Legal and platform policies

Privacy Policy

Last reviewed: 08 June 2026. This Privacy Policy explains how Joy Domestic Services handles personal information for customers, workers, admins and support users on the South African domestic services marketplace.

Who this policy applies to

This policy applies when you visit the website, create an account, register as a customer or worker, upload verification documents, make or receive a booking, contact support, open a dispute, submit a review, request a withdrawal, or use any dashboard feature.

Information we collect

  • Account information such as name, email address, phone number, password hash, role, account status and login activity.
  • Customer profile details such as home address, saved addresses, booking notes, verification status and support history.
  • Worker profile details such as service skills, service areas, availability, wallet records, withdrawal requests, verification status and job history.
  • Verification information such as identity details, address information, uploaded documents, review decisions, rejection reasons and re-upload requests.
  • Booking information such as service, date, time, address, customer, assigned worker, job status timeline, support tickets, disputes and reviews.
  • Payment information such as Paystack references, transaction status, webhook logs, platform commission, worker earning records and payout status.
  • Technical information such as session cookies, IP address, device/browser details, rate-limit events, security logs and audit logs.

How we use information

  • To create and secure customer, worker and admin accounts.
  • To verify customers and workers before high-risk booking or job actions.
  • To match verified workers with booking requests in suitable service areas.
  • To process Paystack payments, payment verification, finance logs, worker wallet entries and withdrawal requests.
  • To provide booking status tracking, support tickets, disputes, reviews and customer confirmation records.
  • To prevent fraud, investigate abuse, enforce platform rules and protect users.
  • To send operational messages about registration, verification, bookings, payments, support and security.
  • To keep records required for tax, audit, payment evidence, dispute handling, safety and legal compliance.

Verification documents

Private verification documents are not public website files. They are stored outside normal public browsing, protected by role-based access, signed admin view links, validation rules, secure filenames and document view audit logs where configured. Only authorized admins should review sensitive documents, and access must be connected to a valid verification, support, dispute, safety or compliance purpose.

Payments and card information

Joy Domestic Services uses Paystack-supported payment flows. The platform records payment references, transaction status and webhook events, but it does not store card numbers or card security codes. Payment records are used for booking confirmation, refunds, finance review, fraud prevention, dispute decisions and worker wallet ledger entries.

When we may share information

  • With the customer and assigned worker when needed to complete a booking safely.
  • With authorized admins, finance users, verification reviewers and support users according to their roles.
  • With Paystack or other configured service providers when needed to process payments, verify transactions or support platform operations.
  • With professional advisers, regulators, courts or law enforcement where legally required or where serious safety, fraud or abuse concerns justify disclosure.

Your privacy choices and requests

You may ask for access, correction, deletion or restriction of personal information where South African law allows. Some records cannot be deleted immediately because the platform must keep them for payment evidence, tax, audit, fraud prevention, safety incidents, legal claims, dispute resolution or worker payout records. Send privacy requests through support so the team can verify your identity before making account changes.

Cookies and security

The website uses essential cookies for secure sessions, CSRF protection, login state, dashboard access, fraud prevention and user preferences. Users can clear cookies in the browser, but doing so may sign them out or interrupt secure booking actions.

Retention

We keep personal information only for as long as needed for the purposes described in this policy, unless a longer period is required for tax, audit, safety, verification, fraud prevention, payment evidence, disputes, chargebacks, legal claims or regulatory duties.
